Car Free Day

Do your part and commute to campus by foot, bike, rollerblade, carpool or public transit!

When: Thursday September 22, from 11:00 to 14:00
Where: uOttawa, Pedestrian Mall near parking lot K

Each year, International Car Free Day is celebrated in thousands of cities around the world. uOttawa is a national leader in the field of sustainable transportation, and every year we take this opportunity to tell the University community about all the great programs we offer.

Many people have used our shuttle service (serving 200 Lees, Roger Guindon Hall and Carleton University), and our Bike-Share Program and Secure Bike Parking enclosure are as popular as ever among staff and students. But did you know that uOttawa offers a free ride matching service to help find carpool partners? www.uOttawaCarpool.ca is a convenient, secure and easy-to-use website that identifies other potential drivers and passengers who have a similar work schedule and who live near you or your route to work. Try it today! Carpooling can save you money and reduce stress.

Stop by our event at the entrance to Parking Lot K to learn about bike theft prevention and the benefits of being a Registered Carpool Group, and meet people from other community organizations including the SFUO Bike Co-op, Protection Services, uOttawa’s Office of Sustainability, Vrtucar and EnviroCentre. You can even check out longboards from Bohdana Longboards and electric bikes from Jademark Technologies!

If it is raining the event will be canceled.
